A year and a half after our interview, James Honeyman-Scott was called in for a band meeting in which the original Pretenders bassist, Pete Farndon, was dismissed for his substance abuse. Two days later, on June 16, 1982, James Honeyman-Scott died of cocaine-induced heart failure. He was 25 years old.
